One of the most common ways people become sperm donors is based on their own desire to help support families who need this type of donation. We’re going to lay out the steps to joining the program, who we’re looking for, and the benefits of becoming a sperm donor here. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any other questions or are looking for more information before making the decision to become a sperm donor.
There are no height restrictions or physical characteristic restrictions for donors. We are looking to support families who come from a wide range of backgrounds and are looking for a donor to meet their family-building needs. However, donors must be between the ages of 21-39 years old.
During the application process, donors are typically disqualified due to lower sperm counts during the semen analysis or for genetic conditions that pose a risk to future offspring.
The only way to find out if you qualify to join the program is to apply online and start the application process.
After submitting an online application, your first step is to complete a semen analysis. You can either schedule the analysis or stop by as a walk-in appointment at the lab. We are located near St. Joseph Medical Center. There is free parking and private access to the facility.
The Donor Coordinator will be in contact with you as you progress through the next steps of the program including completing medical history paperwork, a physical with our physician, and lab work.
It is important to donate at least once a week after entering the program. This will help create enough samples for a family to use for treatment. We ask that donors stay in the program for at least six months. Donated samples cannot be used in treatment until they undergo an FDA-required quarantine of six months, and infectious disease testing to release quarantined samples.
Donors are welcome to donate up to 3 times per week and can stay in the program for a year or longer.
Becoming a sperm donor has many benefits, including compensation.
