Donating Sperm

Who Depends on Sperm Donation?

There are various reasons why someone would need to seek fertility treatments with sperm donation. Sperm donation allows for lots of individuals to carry pregnancies, which can be a very meaningful experience for parents.

We’re taking a closer look at the families who depend on sperm donation to become parents.

LGBTQIA+

LGBTQIA individuals and partners may not have a sperm or egg source or uterus in their relationship and would then need a donor to support their family-building goals. Depending on the individuals and their treatment needs, they can use the sperm donation with their own, partner’s eggs, or donated eggs and carry the pregnancy or use a surrogate.

“Thank you for all that you have done to help my partner and I become parents!”

“Thank you to all the donors who choose this path to help others create new big love in the world.”

Single Mothers by Choice

Individuals looking to become single parents but do not make sperm rely on donor sperm to support a pregnancy. There are still options when it comes to egg sources, as they may produce eggs or rely on donated eggs, and they may be able to carry a pregnancy or use surrogacy.

“I am a single mom by choice. After dating and not finding the right partner for me, I moved on to make my dreams come true of being a mom, and I got my wish. I have a beautiful daughter who’s almost 6 now. Best decision ever, and I’m so happy our donor chose to donate and help us become the family we are now. I can’t thank him enough for such a blessing.”

Male Factory Infertility

Male infertility can be caused by a congenital defect or an injury later in life. Or it could be due to medical treatments such as chemotherapy. Another reason would be to avoid passing down negative genetic conditions to offspring.

“My husband and I experienced male factor infertility for years. We decided to go the donor route. We had an amazing experience, and after a couple of bumps along the road, we ended up without amazing twins! We are so grateful!”

“We had been trying to conceive for 9 years before we found the clinic that helped us conceive our beautiful baby. It’s truly the best blessing we have received. Thank you to the person who decided for reasons of their own to make this generous donation that brought us such joy. If you couldn’t tell yet, we are forever grateful.”

How You Can Help

There are numerous reasons why someone would choose to use a sperm donor. However, it isn’t limited to a specific type of person of family type. It is critical that more men choose to become sperm donors to help support these treatment types and help support so many dreams of parenthood.
